You should always start your sessions low, around 4 minutes until you achieve a base tan. People of Skin Type 1 are high risk and may have to do shorter sessions with caution, or use a spray tan. Once a base tan is achieved people of other Skin Types may increase sessions to 2-3 per week, always allowing at least 24 hours between session. You should avoid burning and seek advice if you experience negative effects. The European Standard advises not to exceed 60 sessions per year.
Once a base tan is achieved you may increase your session time according to your ability to tan without burning. Some people can increase times whilst others cannot. The key is to avoid burning and damaging skin. To build tan colour we would advise more sessions of lower minutes rather than fewer sessions of higher minutes which increases the risk of burning and allows the tan to fade. Never sunbathe outside on the same day as using a sunbed and always use the eye protection available.
