Accelerator Creams
Accelerator creams will improve your tan using a sunbed.
With so many different types of cream and brands, it can be difficult to know which to use, and how they benefit. Find out why you should use one, and how they help below.
Benefits
Sunbed tanning creams are all Accelarators and are available as Accelerator only, Accelerator plus Bronzer, and Accelerator plus Tingle. One thing they all have in commons is containing Tyrosin to help skin produce more pigment.
None contain SPF as outdoor creams which blocks UV light, so they should not be used outdoors at all. They also help your skin to absorb up to 25% more light than without one, to further help the tanning process.
Moisturisers contained in the creams help to condition your skin and prolong the life of your tan. Many have different ingredients too, such as plant extract oils and Aloe Vera, skin soothers, and vitamins to condition your skin and help prevent the signs of ageing. Some have firming agents to make skin look fresher and reduce wrinkles.
Scents are different, with each having its own distinctive smell and some even have a fruity scent, so you will look great and smell great too. With so many options there will be one to suit you.
Creams are available as bottles and as sachets too, and there are also pot shots available in store. Just ask staff for more details.
Accelerators
Accelerator creams contain no Bronzers so the tan you build is solely your natural pigmentation. By increasing the amount of UV you skin absorbs and the amount of pigment, you will tan faster than not using a cream.
Australian Gold DTA is one of the most popular being a cream enriched with Tea Tree Oil, Aloe Vera and Biosin Complex, vitamin A and moisturisers.
Accelerator K is based on Carrot Oil which promotes a deeper tan, with nourishing Vitamin C. Beaches and Cream uses Carrot Oil as a butter base and includes intense skin softening moisturisers.
Bronzers
Bronzers contain the same ingredients as Accelerators depending on the brand, such as oils, vitamins and skin conditioners.
Bronzers also contain an immediate colouring agent, similar to fake tan, and they are available from a mild x10 (Cheeky Brown) up to a x50 (BC Black and Instantly Black).
Bronzers are absorbed into you skin pores which are opened from the heat of the sunbed, so it will not stain clothes, and your natural tan colour will still give a golden base glow.
Tingles
Not for the faint hearted, these can be extreme, and first time users should always try a sachet first used sparingly.
Tingles are accelerators which also agitate the skin causing blood vessels to open up and provide more blood to the surface, giving redness the same as when hot. This is a natural reaction and the way your body tries to cool the skin.
More blood means more oxygen to the skin which can significantly increase tanning ability.
